Lifestyle Brand

Give them a reason to follow, in a field where people don't follow.

Client: SoWeFlo Life - SouthWest Florida Life
Type: Lifestyle series by JRW- Christies International Realty
The Opportunity: Real estate brands struggle to build significant social followings because most people only move once every 10, 20, or 30 years. So there isn't a lot of reason to follow a real estate company on social every day. How do we give people a reason to follow our client?

Industry.

Believe it or not, our client represented on this page is a real estate brand and the platform is social media. Differentiation in real estate branding is extraordinarily challenging because consumers emotionally buy homes and lifestyles, not agencies.

That challenge becomes even more difficult on social media. Most people buy or sell a home once every 10, 20, or even 30 years. So from a consumer’s perspective, the question becomes: why would I want to follow a real estate company every single day?

Story.

SoWeFlo Life exists because John R. Wood Properties understands that people do not naturally want to follow real estate companies every day on social media. But they absolutely do want to celebrate places they love.

SoWeFlo Life tells stories unique to Southwest Florida. The platform never talks about real estate. Instead, it shines a spotlight on the lifestyle, culture, beauty, people, and experiences that make the region unique.

And in doing so, it quietly accomplishes something much larger strategically.

As people fall in love with the stories, they also begin forming emotional connections with the agents telling them and with John R. Wood Properties itself. The agents are storytellers, not salespeople.

Each agent chooses a topic they're personally attached to, and every story must answer three questions: Is it informative? Is it uplifting? Is it unique to Southwest Florida?

And importantly, each episode features a different agent. Never the same one repeatedly. That creates a platform that feels connected to the community itself instead of centered around a single personality.

Delivery.

SoWeFlo Life lives primarily on social media, with a large following on Facebook. For additional exposure, each episode is also broadcast via YouTube pre-roll, where episodes typically receive between 60,000–80,000 views from people in SWFL or interested in SWFL.

The YouTube platform works particularly well because the episodes are not built like traditional real estate content. They are uplifting, musical, informative, and emotionally engaging.

In addition, the original episode files are provided to the featured agents, giving them long-term marketing assets they can continue to utilize for years to come.

Broadcast frequency is managed carefully. No episode is shown to the same person more than twice. The philosophy is never maximum exposure. The philosophy is preserving affection for the stories, the agents, the series, and ultimately the company behind it.

Result.

SoWeFlo Life grew from almost zero to 30,000 Facebook followers very quickly. The engagement metrics are unusually strong. The episodes are approximately 3 minutes long, yet viewers on average watch most of each episode.

The platform has produced more than 200 episodes. It has helped attract key executives to the company. Agents feel exceptionally honored and emotionally connected when their episode launches, especially within a company of more than 900 agents. Sharing behavior has been extraordinary.  When people choose to follow an advertising channel, and share your advertising hundreds of thousands of times, that is an enormous sign of success.

But perhaps the most important result is this: SoWeFlo Life has found a way to shine a spotlight on the agents, the agency, and the region… without people ever feeling like they are watching an advertisement.
